Southdown fleece is a creamy white wool. It is a medium weight, shorter wool with a staple length between 1.5-3 inches. Like all wool, Southdown can be felted, however you may find that it may be slightly more difficult to felt. This is wool is perfect for spinning yarn for socks or other clothing as it will be hardwearing. The wool is springy , a little on the shorter side and takes dye's really well.
These sheep fleeces are from the Farm next door and all money goes back into caring for the sheep. Mainly just covering the costs of the yearly hair cut.
All fleeces have been skirted but are still in their natural raw state.
Some fleeces will have coloured spray on them but this does wash out.
