Pet fur keepsake hearts.
Send me your pet fur and I will hand wash it and handspin it into yarn. I will then knit a keepsake heart and stuff with any leftover fur (plus stuffing).

These keepsakes can be made from cat fur, rabbit fur, dog fur etc but, please message me before ordering to make sure the fur is suitable for spinning.
A 10cm heart needs approximately 40g of pet fur. (great key chain size or a little pocket hug)
A 20cm heart needs approximately 60g of pet fur.
A 30cm heart needs approximately 100g of pet fur.
A 35cm heart needs approximately 130g of pet fur.
Bigger hearts available by request.

Some types of pet fur will need to be mixed with sheep's wool in order to make a strong enough yarn to use. I will select a sheep's wool that matches the colour of your pets fur.
Most double coated animal fur will NOT need to be mixed, unless you want it to be mixed. For example huskies, German shepard, pomeranian, shih tzu, samoyed, chow chow.
All single coated animal fur will need to be mixed with sheep's wool or alpaca to give a usable yarn. The amount of wool to be mixed in can be discussed. I can mix in, just enough to make yarn or 50/50 to increase the amount of yarn to use.
for example if you only have 30g of fur I can add 20g of wool to make the 50g needed. or if you only have 25g I can add 25g of wool.
All fur needs to be at least 1.5 inches otherwise it will start to fall apart if the keepsake is hugged a lot/washed a lot etc and will be quite scratchy. I have worked with 1 inch fur but I don't recommend as I want you to be happy for years to come and not disappointed if the fur starts to fall out of the yarn in the future. (this is a little different for double coated fur, it does make better yarn, so does last longer)
if your fur is shorter than the 1.5 inch needed I can - by request. knit a keepsake heart with hand spun wool or alpaca and then stuff it full of your fur, so you still have a keepsake- this service would be the same price as the chosen size keepsake.
Aftercare- i would recommend you do not wash in a machine. it would be best to wipe down with warm water to avoid any damage.
I do wash the fur multiple times (at least 3) before knitting, however I am happy to not wash the fur so you can keep the fur babies smell if you would prefer. just send me a message or add a note to your order.
Once your order is placed. I will send you the address. you then need to ship me the fur (your cost) please include a note with your name , address and 'website order' . I process the fur, wash and dry, card, hand spin it, wash and dry, set , then hand knit it and once finished I usually send a photo of the finished item and then ship it back to you. (the shipping back to you is included in your order).
the process usually takes around 2+ weeks depending on the size and other spinning work I have on my wheel.
