How It Works

  1. Place your order.

  2. We’ll contact you with the shipping address for the fur and give you your scheduled date on our waiting list.

  3. Send your fur (your cost) – please avoid tightly packing it, as this can cause matting or felting.

  4. We'll email you to confirm safe arrival.

  5. When its your turn on the waiting list- We will weigh, sort, and inspect the fur.

  6. If needed, we will blend it with wool for durability – perfectly colour-matched.

  7. We’ll wash and air-dry the fur.

  8. We hand-spin the yarn.

  9. We then wash and set the yarn 2–3 more times (this takes approx. 3–4 days depending on weather).

  10. We send photos of the finished product.

  11. We ship the yarn to you (shipping included in the price).

📌 Important: Please include a note with your name, and order number when sending the fur. This ensures we match the correct fur to your order and can contact you if needed.

🐾 Fur Types & Requirements

Double-Coated Fur

Most double-coated pets do not require blending with wool and can be spun as-is. Double-coated breeds have coats made up of two different layers. The first, outermost layer is a harsh topcoat that consists of long, coarse hairs. A topcoat may also be called guard hairs or primary hairs. Beneath the topcoat is the short, soft, and dense second layer, usually referred to as the undercoat. Which is woolly in texture and their soft, dense undercoat creates a strong and beautiful yarn.

✅ Suitable for:

  • DK or Aran/Worsted weight yarn (please specify on the note included in your package)

  • Yarn with or without added wool

  • Must be over half an inch long. (0.7"/1.5cm)

🧵 If no preference is stated, we allow the yarn’s natural qualities to determine the best weight (yarn thickness).

Examples of double-coated breeds:

  • Dogs: Akita, Husky, Malamute, Chow Chow, Pomeranina, Pomski, Shiba Inu, Samoyed.

  • Cats: Maine Coon, Ragdoll, Persian, Scottish Fold

  • Others: Angora, Lionhead Rabbit

You can find a more extensive breed list at the bottom of this page.

Single-Coated Fur

Single-coated fur must be blended with wool for strength and spinability.

📏 Must be at least 2 inches in length (5cm)
⚠️ The shorter the fur, the more spiky or coarse the yarn will feel.
🎯 Best spun as Aran/Worsted weight only – thinner yarns may fall apart.

💬 Choosing Yarn Weight

  • Double-coated fur: Choose between DK or Aran/Worsted

  • Single-coated fur: Must be Aran/Worsted weight.

Please include a note inside your package with your name, address, order number and if you would like DK or Aran/Worsted weight yarn.

🧺 Unusable Fur & Preparation Tips

We do our best to use as much fur as possible, but:

🚫 Fur that is matted, tightly packed, or too short (under 2" for single-coated) may not be usable.
✅ Please gently sort through fur and remove any mats before sending.
💡 The better the condition, the better the final yarn!

If fur is unsuitable for spinning, we’ll return it to you and refund your order (excluding return shipping).

🧶 Blending with Wool

If you have less fur than needed, we can blend wool to reach your desired yarn weight:

Example:

  • You want 100g of yarn but only have 80g of fur.

  • Select 100g Single-coated at checkout. The single-coated option includes the cost of additional sheeps wool that needs to be added.

  • Send 80g of fur – we will add 20g of wool (included in the cost with the single-coated option).

  • Add a note or message us to let us know.

📏 How Much Yarn Will I Receive?

Double-coated fur only:

  • Pay for 100g and Send 100g of usable fur = get 100g of yarn back
  • 100g of fur yarn approximately produces 180-240 yards this depends on breed, fur density and spinning method. This figure is only to be used an an estimate- due to the hand processed nature of fur spinning.

 Single-coated fur or blended:

  • Order 100g = receive 100g of yarn (includes any wool added)

  • 100g of fur yarn approximately produces 160-200 yards this depends on breed, fur density and spinning method. This figure is only to be used an an estimate- due to the hand processed nature of fur spinning.

  • Fur must be usable – if some is too short/matted, yield may be lower.

Deposit Now, Pay Later – Booking Information

We’re incredibly grateful for the growing interest in our pet fur spinning services. As our waiting list continues to grow, we’ve introduced a Deposit Now, Pay Later option to help you secure your booking slot and spread out the cost.

Please read the following information carefully before choosing this option:

How It Works

  • A non-refundable deposit is taken to secure your booking slot.

  • You must contact us via email prior to ordering, or immediately after placing your order, with details of the fur type (single-coated or double-coated) and the amount you plan to send. This allows us to create your invoice and ensure the correct time-framed booking slot is held for you. (The booking date will be shown on your invoice- sent via email).

  • Multiple split payments can be made on the invoice
  • The remaining balance must be paid in full no later than 14 days before your booking date. If the balance is not received by this deadline, the booking will be cancelled and the deposit forfeited.

  • £3 administration fee applies to this payment option
  • The address for sending your fur will be provided only after full payment has been made.

  • Booking dates are generally accurate, but may be subject to a slight delay of up to one week.

Terms & Conditions

By selecting the Deposit Now, Pay Later option, the customer confirms and agrees that:

  • The deposit is strictly non-refundable under all circumstances.

  • This condition forms part of the purchase terms and is accepted at the point of payment.

  • No chargebacks, disputes, or legal claims may be initiated regarding the non-refundable nature of the deposit.

These terms help ensure fairness for all customers and allow us to allocate booking slots accurately and reliably.

❓ FAQs

Q: Is my pet’s fur suitable?

  • Double-coated: Yes, it needs to be over half an inch (0.7" or 1.5cm) long, so avoid leg fluff if you can.  Double-coated makes a beautiful soft yarn. Some breeds make softer yarn than others.

  • Single-coated: must be 2" in length , may feel spiky and coarse depending on breed. If any of the strands are below 1.6"(4cm) the yarn will be unstable and start to fall to pieces.

  • Not sure? Have a look at our breed list below, our photo examples, or contact us with close up photos of the fur still attached to your pet and brushed out. And we can usually give you an answer straight away.

Q: I have an unusual amount of fur – can you work with it?
Yes! Message us for a custom quote.

Q: I only have a small amount of fur. Can I still get yarn?
Yes – we’ll blend it with wool to reach your desired yarn amount (included in price).

Q: Can you make something from the yarn?
Yes! We offer custom knitting or crochet services. Send us an email with an attached photo of the style of item that you like and we can give you a qoute.
