If you've ordered roving or wool top from us, you might have noticed it arrives twisted into a beautiful braid. It's not just for aesthetics (although we won't lie — it does look gorgeous) — braiding actually keeps the fibres neat and protected during transit, stopping them from getting tangled, snagged, or generally causing chaos in the post.
We braid our roving and wool top before it goes out, and we get asked fairly regularly how to undo it without making a fluffy mess, or how to re-braid it for storage. So we figured it was about time we put together a couple of quick videos to walk you through both!
In the first video, we show you how to create a braid — handy if you want to store your fibres neatly, gift them to a friend, or just enjoy the full unboxing experience all over again (we don't judge). The second video covers how to undo a braid without disturbing the fibre prep, so you can get straight into spinning without any drama. It's easier than it looks, we promise — and once you've done it a couple of times, it'll be second nature.
Whether you're a seasoned spinner or just starting out, knowing how to handle your fibres well from the moment they arrive makes a real difference to your final yarn. Happy watching, and as always, if you have any questions just drop us a message! 🧶
